Rolf Weingartner studied and completed his doctorate at the Institute of Geography at the University of Bern, specialising in hydrology. After extended stays abroad, he headed the hydrology group at the Bern Institute of Geography from 1989 to 2019, first as senior assistant and finally as full professor. He is currently co-owner of the company ecosfera gmbh, which is active in the field of water, forests and ecosystems.
